DIEngineLAB is the internal combustion engine and propulsion systems research laboratory of the "Enzo Ferrari" Department of Engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The group covers the full engine development cycle: from design (layout and 0D-1D optimization) to 3D-CFD analysis of flows, sprays and combustion, through to experimental testing on real engines and components.
Our activities range from traditional engines to innovative solutions — Dual Fuel combustion, two-stroke engines, hydrogen opposed-piston engines — and from sustainable fuels (hydrogen, biodiesel, methane, bioethanol) to hybrid propulsion systems for automotive, motorcycle, marine and aeronautical applications.
